Obstetrician and Gynaecologist
M. A. Mahran | MBBCh, MSc, MRCOG
Mr. Mahran trained in general Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the East of England and has also completed advanced training in laparoscopic (keyhole) gynaecological surgery in Norfolk and the Norwich University Hospital's cancer centre.
Mr. Mahran is presently an Obstetrics & Gynaecology consultant at the NHS Bedford Hospital (South wing) and is the lead clinician for minimal access surgery.
Mr. Mahran performs most of his procedures by keyhole surgery and as the faculty member of many national laparoscopic and hysteroscopic courses, he teaches these techniques to other surgeons.
Mr. Mahran has a broad range of skills in general gynaecology, including medical and surgical management of menstrual disorders and pelvic pain. He is responsible for the management of gynaecology cancer patients in the Bedford area and liaises for their treatment in Cambridge.
Mr. Mahran has considerable experience with performing outpatient procedures under local anaesthetic and he runs the hysteroscopy and colposcopy clinic on a weekly basis.
Mr. Mahran has written numerous publications, including peer-reviewed research articles, reviews and editorials. In view of his National/International expertise, he has been invited to several countries to take part in academic meetings and workshops.
Mr. Mahran practices a holistic style of gynaecology. He aims to empower patients with adequate information so that they can make the best decisions for their own particular circumstances. Mr. Mahran is also interested in medical education and likes to organise lectures, small groups and workshops.
Mr Mahran has three children with whom he spends most of his spare time. He enjoys swimming and is a keen tennis player.
